ACJS
The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) is an international association that promotes education, research, and policy within the criminal justice field. Under the guidance of Dr. Goulos, many of the CSJU Charter Club members have become ACJS members, giving them a fantastic opportunity to network and get involved in the field. Read on to learn more about this connection!
Agents of Change
We are agents of change in the criminal social justice area through the promotion of advocating for the community and social transparency. Through our efforts, we will attempt to engage both justice and societal needs to bridge the gap towards a better understanding and have a positive platform of communication, and address all critical requirements to establish a balanced community.

ABOUT US
The Criminal & Social Justice Charter Club (CSJU Charter Club) was officially established in September 2023 to create a community for students passionate about criminal and social justice. Our core purpose is to be agents of change by promoting social transparency and advocating for the community. The club provides students with critical networking opportunities by connecting them with professionals in the Criminal Justice System and related fields. We also act as a safe, judgment-free zone for students to share their knowledge and interests, striving to establish a balanced community through engaged justice and societal work.

Membership in the CSJU Charter Club is open to students at the University of St. Francis in Joliet—all are welcome! We strive to make our club accessible, often hosting open events, so feel free to bring your friends along. While we are connected to external professional bodies, joining any academic or honorific associations (like Pi Delta Mu or ACJS) is completely optional. However, if you are interested, Dr. Goulos will gladly assist you with the registration processes. Additionally, students who want a leadership experience can apply for cabinet positions when they become available. Feel free to learn more about us!
Pi Delta Mu
Pi Delta Mu is an official Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, a nationally recognized Criminal Justice Honor Society, the only honor society of its kind. As a certified member of the Association of College Honor Societies and affiliated with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, Alpha Phi Sigma is dedicated to promoting academic excellence, educational leadership, community service, and professional unity.

The core mission of Alpha Phi Sigma is to foster analytical thinking, rigorous scholarship, and lifelong learning among its members. This society works to elevate the ethical standards of the criminal justice professions, recognize top scholars, and encourage greater communication between students and practitioners. Through involvement, students gain professional and personal leadership skills and find opportunities to serve both the community and the professional arena.
Membership in Alpha Phi Sigma, and thereby the Pi Delta Mu Chapter, recognizes academic excellence across undergraduate, graduate, and Juris Doctor students. All applications must be reviewed and approved by our Chapter Advisor, Dr. Goulos.
